Our Philosophy
At Holy Name we honor the uniqueness and safety of each child through our child centered program.
The program is to enable children to
become initiators of their own learning, based on children’s interests and intentional teaching where educators work
alongside (scaffold) children to support shared sustained thinking.
We believe that each child is a precious and sacred gift from God, and we treat them with the dignity and respect that God
intended.
We support children to develop a sense of love and respect for themselves and others, by supporting the development of meaningful relationships.
Holy Name believes that children are confident and capable individuals and that children thrive in learning environments that are the third teacher, providing children with opportunities to
take risks and explore the world around them – allowing them to develop their senses of identity through play-based learning.
Our program enables children to experience the joy and wander of the natural world that God created so they develop a sense of
environmental responsibility.
We believe that connecting children with the environment fosters holistic development and creates respect for the natural world.
We value a sense of community and to inspire children to develop love, care and respect for others and the natural world.
We believe that our service should be grounded in our local community and reflect the history, culture, language, and traditions of the community.
